Give Me Back My Gun?

Last week, in a post called Crazy Gun Talk, the discussion from www.HuskerMax.com about New York State's SAFE law was started with a link and quote from a forum called House of Politics. The source to the claims is an attorney from New York named Tresmond. The discussion at HuskerMax.com generated 150+ replies.

Now, there is yet another discussion running 150+ posts on the basis of another story also quoting Tresmond:
"Tresmond says his client was ordered to turn in his weapons last week because he was once on anti-anxiety medication, which is a violation of the SAFE Act."

So far, all discussion at www.HuskerMax.com about the issues affecting New York State gun owners seems to revolve around statements coming from Tresmond. Earlier this year, Tresmond represented 2 men who file:
an Article 78 petition – essentially a lawsuit against the government – asking a judge to prohibit the state from enforcing parts of the recently enacted Secure Ammunition and Firearms Enforcement Act."
At the time, according to the Buffalo News article linked above:
"Tresmond said he worries the petition will be dismissed on a procedural ground.
If that happens, “we’re not going to stop here,” he said."
It seems that the gang over at HuskerMax.com is following Tresmond's statements quite closely.  It's odd that posters there don't seems to understand the actual law or that Tremond & his clients are behind the links in the opening posts in both threads.

Crazy Gun Talk

The HuskerMax 'Planters Gang' spent most of the last few days tripping over themselves discussing a claim by some lawyers that residents in New York are having their gun permits revoked based on certain medical conditions or Rx.

While debate focused on what was crazier, not taking gun permits from rubber room residents and/or women during that time of the month or taking gun permits from rubber room residents and/or women during that time of the month, Team Planters forgot to look at the actual law.

It seems that New York is taking the radical step of asking trained mental health professionals to report if their client makes "threats of, or attempts at, suicide/serious bodily harm to self, or homicidal/violent behavior towards others. This standard justifies the need for immediate action, as a public safety measure". http://www.governor.ny.gov/nysafeact/mental-health-faq

It's as if some people believe it is ok to arrest a man for making terrorist threats, as long as we don't take his gun away from him as we drive him to the police station for booking.

Anti-Gay Marriage Site runnings ads: "Start Your Family w/ a Russian Lady"

HuskerMax.com is SO pro-family that that they are are willing to help you find a woman to settle down with thanks to ads for AnastasiaDate.com, a nearly soft core porn site with the tag line line: 'Love Knows No Boundaries'.

It seems the pro-christian, anti-immigration poster profile the frequents HuskerMax is a good ad match for site that helps ugly, lonely men find women half way around the world who are looking for a green card.

The AnastasiaDate.com ad seems to be coming from an ad feed called ValueClick Media.

Intolerance at the Cafe

Intolerance is running at an all time high at the Cafe over on HuskerMax.

The Cafe at HuskerMax.com has long been a safe zone for the least enlightened, least tolerant white male Christian Husker fans.

Google: "homosexual, predatory, incest, HuskerMax" for a sample of what has been spewed.

One thread even has a poster ask what is wrong with polygamy and provides a map of the world that either shows where polygamy is legal or where women don't have equal protection under the law - or perhaps both.

Please, world, don't assume all Husker fans are as intolerant as the HuskerMax Cafe crowd.

Putting the BS in BBS

Crazy stuff gets posted to the non-sports pages of various Husker BBS. Here are some examples:

One thread at Max's site one poster writes about blacks not being accepting of white entertainment. It is now closed.

Another thread there says that thieves targeted a home on the published gun permit map. The thread links to an article from Newsday where the headline only asks the question but fails to confirm if the gun map had any role in leading to the robbery. In fact, the article describes a ladder on the back of the house leading to a broken second story window. Perhaps the map of gun permit owners is so specific as to indicate that the gun safe was in a second story back bedroom.

Finally there is a thread that points out the ethics and consequences of walking way from your mortgage. Rest assured that some of the same posters who are critical of people who choose to default on their mortgage will advocate that the Government should not raise the debt ceiling even if it means they default on their existing obligations. One would think that if default is bad, it is always bad.

Husker Men's Basketball: Take the under.

The huskers will be without Ubel for the rest of the season. Their already depleted squad is without almost any scores. They have yet to score more than 47 points in each of their first three conference games. They are dead last in the big 10 in the important areas of effective field-goal percentage field goal attempts to free-throw attempts and offensive rebound percentage.

Most likely they will score 50 again at some point time this season and most likely they will win another game this season. However it's hard to imagine when that will happen and how that will happen.

EDIT: Never trust me for gambling advice. The Huskers were tied with #22 Michigan State 32 all at half tome and the people who took the over 119 points won as the Huskers broke 50. Put this one down as yet another moral victory.
